Update

This whole post is TMI and kinda gross, so don't read if you are squeamish. Everything at the moment is ok, and we even got another 3d pic out of it...;)

Well, yesterday turned out to be the day from hell.  I was at work last night (I work afternoons) and I felt a gush of fluid.  I freaked out a bit as this has never happened, I ran to the bathroom (feeling a gush every time I took a step) and saw that it was blood.  I left work in a hurry to get to the ER.  I arrived and my husband was already there waiting for me.  We went in and they took care of all the paperwork and got me into a room.  I talked with a nurse and went to the bathroom, I had soaked through 2 pads in 30 minutes.  I gave them a urine sample (guessing so they could check my levels?) and went back to the room and tried not to freak out.  My doctor had explained to me yesterday morning that I had this subchrionic hematoma and that it could start bleeding and if it did then I was to go in to get checked out.  So I explained this to the ER doc and we got an u/s right away.  I was so scared even though I knew the bean had a heartbeat at 12:45pm before I went into work.  I asked the u/s tech if there was a heartbeat and she showed us that there was.  I was a bit relieved, but still had the crampy feeling.  The tech even gave us a 3D pic.  The ER doc explained the SCH (subchrionic hematoma) and told us that I could bleed for weeks from it (I have 2 SCH's that measure 3x1cm and 2x1cm) or I could start to heal right away.  We left the ER and I have been hanging out on the couch since.

Went in to visit the OB today and he pulled out the doppler and Charlie has a heartbeat of 150bpm.  The bleeding has subsided (just seeing old blood now) but I am taking it easy as to not aggravate the SCH's...

  1. So sorry to hear about this scare. I hope it is just a bump in the road that ends with a healthy baby!

  2. I have a work friend who had this happen at 16 weeks. She lost 500 mL of blood. Her bleeding stopped after a few days and her baby was born healthy just a few weeks back. It can be very scary, but try to relax! I'm sure your docs are monitoring you closely!
